Ana Gemma López Martín
Public International Law and International Relations Chair at the Complutense University of Madrid. Doctorate in Law by the UCM and rewarded with the PhD Extraordinary Award. She is Honorary Member of the Hispanic Luso-American Institute of International Law, and of the European Law and Regional Integration Institute. López Martín is the director of the Reasearch Group “Globalización, Derechos Humanos y Derecho Internacional”. She is currently the director of the International and Ecclesiastic Law, and Philosophy in Law Department in the UCM.
She has been, and still is director of several research and innovation groups. Regarding her fruitful scientific work, she is author and editor of more than twenty books, among which the following are found: El territorio estatal en discusión (1999); Tratados sucesivos en conflicto (2002); La navegación por los estrechos (2008); El ejercicio continuo y pacífico de funciones de Estado como modo de adquisición del título territorial en la jurisprudencia internacional (2009); International Straits (Springer, 2010); Los Estados fallidos (2015); Retos y amenazas a los derechos humanos en la era de la globalización (2016); Creación de Estados, Secesión y Reconocimiento (2018); Las minorías en el contexto actual (2020); Secession and Statehood. Lessons from Spain and Catalonia (Routledge, 2021). She has writen more than a hundred articles and contributions to collective pieces.
She is author of four theory teaching handbooks: Public International Law (2022), Derecho internacional público (2022), Instituciones y Organizaciones Internacionales (2021), Historia e Instituciones de la Unión Europea (2021). Furthermore, she is autor of four practice teaching handbooks.
López Martín has directed seven PhD thesis with the maximum grade.
She has participated in multiple national and international conferences and courses, that is Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Peru, Morocco, Dominican Republic, USA, Angola and Chile.
