Inés de la Villa Vecilla

My name is Inés de la Villa Vecilla and I graduated in English Studies at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2020). In 2021 I completed the MA in English Linguistics: New Applications and International Communication (UCM). Currently, I hold a predoctoral contract (FPU) at UCM, granted by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities (Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades). My PhD thesis, which deals with research methods in the area of language attitudes from a queer perspective, is being tutored by Dra. Gitte Kristiansen and Dr. Mario Serrano Losada and it is part of a research project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation titled "Experimental techniques in sociolinguistic research: methodological effects in the study of language attitudes (SOCRATTEX)" (PID2021-127101NB-I00).

My teaching experience (2020-2023) includes lectures and seminars in the subjects ‘English Language for Commerce Management’ (BA in Commerce), ‘English Literature until the 1800s’, ‘English Semantics’, and ‘Varieties of English’ (BA in English Studies).

As part of my educational and academic process, I have done one short stay as a Research Associate in Linguistics at Queen Mary University of London under the supervision of Dr. Sophie Holmes-Elliot (April-June 2023) and another one as a Visiting Researcher at KU Leuven under the supervision of Dr. Stefano de Pascale (September-December 2024). Additionally, I have attended and participated in a number of international conferences such as UPCEL (2022), L Simposio y IV Congreso de la Sociedad española de Lingüística (2022), AESLA (2022), UPCEL (2024) and Lavender Languages and Linguistics Conference (2022 and 2024). Finally, I have published three articles:
