My name is Aura Canet and I’m currently doing my PhD in English Linguistics at the Department of English Language and Linguistics at the Universidad Complutense Madrid (UCM). I have a Degree in English Studies: language, literature and culture at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED); a Master’s Degree in Teacher Training at the Universitat Illes Balears (UIB); and a Degree in Performing Arts by the Academy of Creative Training (ACT) in the UK.

I’m currently working as an associate teacher at the university, teaching English for Specific Purposes and I also teach English language at public Secondary Schools. At the same time I’m working on my PhD, which focuses on the use of film and subtitling/dubbing techniques for teaching ESP. My areas of interest are: multimodal approaches of ESP learning through film; AD, captioning, subtitling, dubbing as a pedagogical tool; ESP through cinema; and L2 learning through TVA.
