Andrea Carrera es Profesor Ayudante Doctor de Economía Aplicada (acr. Profesor Contratado Doctor) en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid e Investigador adscrito al Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI). En el marco de las Acciones Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCAs), ha sido investigador en la Universidad Estatal de Campinas (UNICAMP), en la Universidad Nacional de Seúl (SNU), República de Corea, y en el Centre for Development Studies (CDS) en Trivandrum, India. Sus áreas de interés son la economía monetaria, las cadenas globales de valor y la convergencia económica. Es autor de dos libros (uno en prensa para Palgrave Macmillan y otro publicado por Routledge), capítulos y artículos científicos y divulgativos. Andrea ha impartido clases, llevado a cabo periodos de investigación y participado en conferencias en diferentes países. Como académico, también ha desempeñado actividades administrativas a nivel universitario. Fuera de la academia, Andrea ha trabajado para empresas privadas en Italia y en Alemania. Obtuvo el PhD en Economía por la Universidad de Lugano, Suiza, el Máster en Economía por la Universidad Complutense y el Máster en Economía y Políticas Internacionales por la Graduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) en Milán, Italia. Andrea habla fluentemente inglés, español, italiano (nativo) y tiene conocimientos básicos de alemán.

Andrea Carrera is an Assistant Professor of Applied Economics at Complutense University of Madrid and an Affiliated Researcher at the Complutense Institute for International Studies (ICEI). Under Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), he has been an exchange researcher at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, Seoul National University (SNU), Republic of Korea, and the Centre for Development Studies (CDS) in Trivandrum, India. His current research interests are in monetary economics, global value chains (GVCs), and economic catch-up. Andrea has authored two books (one forthcoming by Palgrave Macmillan and another published by Routledge), book chapters and peer-reviewed articles on economics. Over the years, he has lectured on economics, spent research spells, and attended conferences in different countries. As an academic, he has also gained administrative experience at university level. Outside of academia, Andrea has worked for private companies in Italy and in Germany. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Lugano, Switzerland, an MPhil in Economics from Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and a Master’s in Economics and International Policies from the Graduate School of Economics and International Relations (ASERI) in Milan, Italy. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, Italian (native) and has a basic knowledge of German.
