GENERAL RESEARCH OBJECTIVE OF THE GROUP
Since its creation, the group has continuously participated in more than 62 national and international projects, and has been represented in numerous scientific committees. The group has published around 500 papers in prestigious journals in the areas of analytical chemistry, food, environment, biomedical analysis, materials, etc., has generated 4 patents, 1 of which is in use, and has trained more than 50 doctors.
This group actively collaborates with different national and foreign companies, hospitals and research centres of recognised prestige. It is a consolidated group that enjoys a recognized prestige in the International Scientific Community.
The Group has a marked interdisciplinary character and focuses its research on the following lines:
- Analytical methodologies for trace element speciation and analysis of nanoparticles in biological, food and environmental samples.
- Analytical methodologies for the determination of persistent and emerging contaminants in food and environmental samples.
- Development and application of bioanalytical strategies for the identification and quantification of proteins, metabolites and nucleic acids: Application to the biomedical and environmental area.
- Design, synthesis, characterization and application of nanosystems with biomedical potential in in-vitro and in-vivo models.
- Evaluation of nephrotoxicity and nephroprotection in anti-tumour treatments by means of metabolomics and bioimaging techniques in tissues.
- Quantitative proteomics studies and bioaccumulation studies to establish the toxicity of trace elements, species, nanoparticles and emerging contaminants.
- Analytical strategies for the determination of metals and their complexes related to neurodegenerative diseases.
- Analytical methodologies for obtaining bioactive compounds from agro-food residues.
