The group of NMR and Imaging in biomedicine at Complutense University is mainly interested in the discovery of biomarkers with diagnostic and prognostic values for human. The development of biomarkers will be performed with the combination of structural, molecular and functional information obtained by imaging techniques, together with the molecular data of the mechanisms of the diseases obtained by omic techniques, mainly metabolomics. This approach opens up new perspectives in the study of these complex diseases. The final aim of these biomarkers is their clinical application for diagnosis, monitoring and evaluation of response to treatment in patients. The main research lines are:
-
NMR-based Metabolomic approaches
-
MRI approaches
-
Molecular Imaging
-
Computerized Tomography
-
Critical Care patients monitoring
-
Acute Respiratory Distress / Acute Lung Injury: COVID-19, influenza, etc.
-
Tuberculosis diagnosis and monitoring
-
Cardiovascular Diseases.
