I am interested in how evolutionary forces interact with ecological factors, with focus on avian biology. I have worked before on ecomorphology and colorimetric approaches to explore divergence between populations of common chaffinch on the oceanic island of La Palma. Currently, I am performing my PhD on the migration patterns of the european hoopoe and their genomic basis. Specifically, I study how the different migratory strategies have evolved and are maintained along the hoopoe’s distribution area. To accomplish that I use ring data, density kernels, occupation models, stable isotopes methods, genetic and physiological parameters and genomic and transcriptomic analysis. In summary, I try to understand a highly complex trait as behaviour through a multidisciplinary approach in mixed populations.
