Irene Sánchez Méndez
PhD candidate
I studied Veterinary Medicine out of my love of animals and biological evolution. While studying my degree I started to build my microbiological background in antimicrobial resistance participating in proyects as the Small World Initiative (SWI). These experiences led me to continue my scientific career on microbiology once I finished my degree in 2019.
The skills I adquired within the field of laboratory animals added to my veterinary background allow me to optimally work in my line of research, wich involves the transmission patterns of resistant nosocomial bacteria using animal models.
When I am away from the laboratory I like to draw and play boardgames with friends, but I also love nature and strolling through the woods.
