Francisco Bustelo García del Real (1933)
While he was still a student of Economics, Garcia del Real was committed to democratic groups opposing Franco’s Regime. He was imprisoned and exiled during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He completed his law studies with specialisation in Economics at the University of Paris (1959), complementing his undergraduate and doctoral studies in Economics at the University of Madrid (1969 and 1973). He held the chair of Economic History at the Universities of Santiago and Valladolid and joined the Complutense University in 1980, serving as Rector from 1980 to 1984.
